I was just wondering what the friends and likes are. I see a like race on the right side. As well as me not having any friends. What is the point or benefits of having friends and likes???

Likes are for when people like a post, but don't necessarily have anything to say. You will notice the like button on the bottom right of my post.

You can add friends on here, to keep track of people who have simliar interests. At this point, we dont have that many members. But, when the site gets to a certain size it comes in handy.

Likes are for people like me that like to have their ego fed. I'm friends with people that seam cool, not sure why. Just a way to get to their profile quicker.

ahhh cool I need my ego feed as well or maybe a cookie I like cookies. I will have to work on being cool to gain friends and get more likes. LOL

The benefits of likes and friends in forum with a lot of content and members are. In addition to what Aaron stated.

If you value what a member says or opinions, you can view all of his posts that were liked and ones he liked by going to his profile (there is a tab for that.

Befriending someone has its benefits to, if you have your notifications set up... Every time a friend creates a thread or makes a status update you will be notified ( the little bell icon on the top). Which is useful, if you don't want to miss a thread after being away from the forum for a bit.
