Help!

Hello! I am new to blowguns but very interested. I have a couple questions. :)
First - is it reasonable to simply purchase an aluminum (or another metal you guys recommend) pipe with the right dimensions?
Second - what are the right dimensions for a blowgun?
Third - if I purchase an unorthodox blowgun, how do I know which darts to purchase?

Thank you! Feel free to give as much information as needed; I’m new and could really use it! Best wishes.

Welcome to the forum . You can purchase any size pipe and make darts to custom fit that tube . The common commercial size's are 38 , 40 , 50 and 625 caliber . I would suggest buying a commercial one with matching darts to start . 625 caliber is the best all round choice . Check out Cold Steel .

Many thanks! Quick question - what is the inner diameter for a .625 caliber blowgun?

Yes . .625 decimal inches or better known as 5/8 's inches
.50 decimal inches is the same as 1/2 inch

Remember . We're talking about inside diameter of the tube .

Gotcha, thanks! Another probably really dumb question: how can I get a blowgun without all the contraptions? Here’s an image of a blowgun, and I’ve circled everything on it that I don’t want. (This is why I was looking into a plain ol’ aluminum pipe.)

All of those things just slide off the blowgun. If you wan't a good .50 cal get a tube with 1/2" Inner Diameter. The community has also discovered that so called '1/2" EMT conduit' actually has an inner diameter of .625" or .625 Cal.

Thanks! I wasn't sure they'd slide off. So the Cold Steel .625 cal. blowgun can be reduced to essentially an aluminum pole? Also, can you shoot me a link to the 1/2 EMT conduit? :)

Yes and No. There's a single piece and a two piece version. The two piece has a really nice threaded connector that would take a master machinist to reproduce. Aside from that you'd probably want a mouthpiece. I made one from conduit with a PVC coupler as a mouthpiece. Here's the conduit I used 1/2 in. x 5 ft. Thank you bro! You've been a huge help. I think I'll give the conduit a go. Thanks again!
