Hi I'm fairly new to the forums, I'm only 13 but I love to hunt with blowguns, I have two Frriends who I hunt with and right now I'm shooting a 5 foot cold steel blowgun, I have a home made 3 foot one but if I'm hunting I'll mainly use my cold steel. Right now my home made darts are duck tape cones with nails, but I'm not to happy with them considering they can't penetrate your normal water bottle while all of my cold steel darts can. So my question is what are the best home made hunting darts for game the size of black birds the smallest, then pigions, the medium, then rabbits and squirrels the largest. I've though about xacto blade darts which I'll be making some of those soon, but anything else? Or are there darts that work well that I could buy?

I would carry some of the new Cold Steel stun darts for use if the squirrel is up the tree quite a ways. I've heard a couple stories of guys who killed a squirrel and had to climb to get it off the tree that they "nailed" him onto. They'll also drop most small birds.

It's my guess that your duct tape cones are problematic, possibly folding in the bore or just a loose fit. I've never liked duct tape myself but have had good luck with paper and Elmer's glue. If the paper is too flimsy you can glue two or three cones into each other to get a stiffer rig. X-acto blades are your best bet for stuff on four legs. Aim for center mass.

I actually got a rabbit today with the cold steel mini broad heads, first small game animal, I was really excited. I then went home and made my first xacto darts and they turned out great. Just wondering how do you post pictures, I could post pics of the darts and rabbits
