I know my local fish and game in NH mentions nothing about it. I presume it is illegal.

1---Welcome to BGF!
2---It might be a good idea to call the SC Dept of Natural Resources and talk with them. Find out for sure what the drill is before you hit the field with a blowgun. If I was in your situation, I wouldn't risk fish & game law or maybe weapons law violations because I thought I was in the right.
